To start clipping on Instagram, build a broad page in one niche and post Reels that travel on their own. Then slip paid campaign clips in between. Each campaign pays a set rate per 1,000 verified views on every clip that passes review. Instagram itself pays nothing for them.

The page is the part most clippers skip, and it's the part that pays over time. Take @exploringhistory, one of our co-founder Grayson Peil's pages. In the 30 days to 12 October 2026 it drew 149,069,347 views and gained 442,168 net followers (Instagram Insights). Below are the screenshots, what each number means, and how to build a page like it.

We run these campaigns for brands at Clipping Culture, and 500K+ clippers already post them. You can join one with zero followers and a phone.

Why we'd start clipping on Instagram

In our experience, Instagram is the strongest platform for clipping. Reels reach people who don't follow you, and Meta said in September 2025 that they are reshared more than 4.5 billion times a day.

A page there also compounds. Every post that travels brings followers, and those followers give your next campaign clip a head start. Grayson's view is that a clipping page is an asset you grow and get paid on at the same time.

The page behind this guide

Grayson has been growing pages since he was about twelve. After a failed gaming page and a meme page that worked, he spent years testing niches on Instagram: hockey, golf, fashion and more memes. He was trying to make Instagram pay, and for a long time it didn't.

What he got instead was an eye for what travels. "There is always a proven strategy for whatever content you want to make," he says. "If you want to do sports, there is a sports page with a couple of million followers you can learn the hooks from."

Today his own Instagram accounts cover memes, news, sports, music, tech and fashion, with 3.5M+ followers in total as of August 2026. His two largest drew 981.7M and 912.7M views in the 90 days to 14 August 2026 (platform insights). You can see his personal profile at @0gwc on Instagram. These are his own accounts, not campaign data.

What one of Grayson's pages did in 30 days

@exploringhistory posts history moments: odd facts, lost objects, photos with a story behind them. Here is what it looked like on 13 October 2026.

Daily new follows for @exploringhistory from 23 September to 12 October 2026, between 9,732 and 33,412 a day

Daily new follows, 23 September to 12 October 2026: between 9,732 and 33,412 a day.

Four things in these numbers matter to a new clipper:

  • Most views went to strangers. 78.2% of views came from people who didn't follow the page. The feed is doing the distribution, which is why a new page can still reach people.
  • Strangers turned into followers. The page gained more than 9,000 followers on every day in the table. That is the audience that sees your next clip.
  • The posts that brought followers were ordinary moments with one strong line. The top content by follows includes JFK's car, which stayed in use after the assassination. Another is a student's purse found in a school, lost since the 1950s. Each has one line of text that makes you read.
  • Views split by content type. On this page, posts drew about 127 million views and Reels about 22 million. Check yours, because a campaign may count only one type.

How to read your own Instagram Insights

You need a professional account to see Insights. Open your profile, then your professional dashboard, to find them. Check these four screens each week:

Insights screenWhat it tells youWhat to do with it
Views: followers vs non-followersWhether the feed is still showing you to new peopleIf non-followers drop, change the format, not the niche
Views by content typeWhich of posts, Reels and Stories carry the pageMake more of the type that travels, and check the brief counts it
Top content by followsWhich posts turn viewers into followersCopy the format of the top three
Followers over timeWhether the page is compoundingA flat line means your posts get views but give no reason to follow

How to start clipping on Instagram in 6 steps

1. Set up a professional page with a broad job

Make a new account just for clipping. Instagram lets you add up to five accounts and switch between them without logging out. Switch it to a professional account, which Insights, trial reels and the branded content tools require.

Name it after what it posts. @exploringhistory says what you'll see before you tap. "NBA Clips" says you're about to see ads. Pick one wide niche, such as sports, history, gaming, podcasts or tech. And don't pose as the brand you clip for: Instagram's Terms of Use bar impersonating anyone.

2. Post Reels that travel before you post clips

Post one campaign clip, then three Reels that travel on their own: moments people share and repost. Followers come for those three, and they are the reason your clip gets seen.

Look for what already has high shares and reposts in your niche, then make each one your own: your cut, your text, your format. Instagram prioritizes original content and shows fewer Reels that repost one already on Instagram or carry another app's watermark. Meta said in January 2026 that 75% of Instagram recommendations in the US came from original posts.

3. Test with trial reels

Trial reels go to non-followers first and show their numbers after about 24 hours. They reach your followers only if you share them with everyone.

Use them to test a new format or niche without filling your grid with misses. A trial reel that pulls views from strangers is a format worth keeping.

4. Join a campaign that lists Instagram

Our paid campaigns run on Whop Content Rewards, a marketplace where brands list campaigns for clippers. Pick ones that list Instagram and fit your page's niche, so a campaign clip looks like everything else you post.

Read the brief before you cut anything. Campaign clips use only the footage the campaign gives you, and Instagram's rules bar posting video you don't have the rights to.

5. Cut the clip and give it a format

Open on the strongest line, with the hook in the first 1–2 seconds. Then put it in a format the biggest pages in your niche already use. The tweet format sets the clip under a screenshot-style post. The caption format uses one bold line that tells the viewer what's coming.

Leave out word-by-word subtitles, because they read as spam. Use text that makes people read, like the one-line hooks on Grayson's top posts.

Export vertical 9:16 video, ideally 1080×1920, and keep text clear of the bottom and right edges. Keep most clips to 12–35 seconds, our usual suggestion, unless the brief sets a length. Reels can run up to 20 minutes, but Instagram says Reels over 3 minutes won't be recommended to new audiences.

6. Add the paid partnership label, then submit

A paid clip that promotes a brand is branded content under Instagram's Branded Content Policies, which require the paid partnership label. Add it when you post. It shows "Paid partnership" even before the brand approves a tag.

Then submit the Reel's link to the campaign on Whop. A person on our team checks it against the brief before its views count. Most clips don't pass, and our TikTok guide lists the reasons clips get rejected, which apply on Instagram too.

How Instagram clippers get paid

You're paid per 1,000 verified views on each approved Reel. Each campaign shows its rate and total budget on Whop before you join, and Whop pays out automatically once a post is approved. Some campaigns set a minimum payout, so a Reel needs enough views to reach it.

Pay follows the page. Most clips earn a little and a few earn most of the money. A page that reaches strangers every day gives each clip more chances to be one of the few. When you're ready, go to our start clipping page and join your first campaign through Whop.

If you're marketing a brand instead, our Instagram Reels clipping service puts clippers on your footage.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need followers to start clipping on Instagram?

No. Our campaigns have no follower minimum, and you're paid on views. On @exploringhistory, 78.2% of views in the 30 days to 12 October 2026 came from non-followers. Reels can reach strangers from your first post.

What should I name my Instagram clipping page?

Name it after the content, like @exploringhistory, and leave "clips" out. A name that says what the page posts gets follows. A name that says "clips" reads as a feed of ads.

How many Instagram accounts can I clip on?

Instagram lets you add up to five accounts and switch between them. Start with one page and grow it before you open a second, because a second empty page splits your time.

Do campaign clips have to be Reels?

Usually, because clips are video, but the brief decides. Check which post types and platforms the campaign counts before you post. On Grayson's page, posts and Reels drew very different view counts, so know which one the campaign pays on.

Is Instagram or TikTok better for clipping?

Instagram, in our experience: Reels travel to non-followers, get reshared, and build a page you own. Most campaigns list both, so you can post on both and submit each post separately. Our TikTok guide covers starting a page there from zero.
